Willy Wonka Afternoon Tea at The Chestefield Mayfair

Okay, so afternoon tea is one of my favourite ways to spend an afternoon, especially in London.

As a pre birthday treat for me and an actual birthday treat for my friend Emma, we thought we would nice to pop down to London for an afternoon of shopping, Aperol spritz and afternoon tea at The Chesterfield Mayfair but with a twist, a Willy Wonka twist.

When we arrived at The Chesterfield Mayfair, we were greeted by lovely staff, colourful cakes and champagne - you know we had to opt for the champagne version haha.

We were taken to our table and handed menus to pick our teas. I went for the classic English breakfast style tea - I'm just not adventurous when it comes to my hot beverages. As we waited for our tea to arrive, we were presented with a little fruity drink with popping candy. It was very Willy Wonka and delicious.

I was so excited for our cake stand of delights to arrive and boy I was not disappointed! There were three beautifully displayed tiers of savoury sandwiches, chocolate scones and amazing sweet treats that Willy Wonka himself would approve of. We had a lemon popping candy cake; a mini bubble gum flavoured eclair; a blueberry macaron; a mini fruit tartlet, a white chocolate egg; a cupcake with white chocolate mushrooms and a real life Willy Wonka bar. Amazing! Oh, and what's the best part, you ask? It was all unlimited! That's right you heard, the afternoon tea was unlimited! You could have as much as you like.

The sandwiches were delicious, I could have them many times over but I was saving myself for the sweets.
There were a couple special occasions being celebrated and the staff were great. They presented myself and Emma with two little cupcakes and a rose carnation each. It was such a lovely touch.

To top off what had already being a lovely afternoon, Willy Wonka himself turned up to say hi to everyone. It was so lovely to see. He went round every table (whether there were children on them or not), chatted and give everyone an everlasting gobstopper - unfortunately, they didn't last forever but they were tasty. He also gave us a final treat, a golden envelope. What's in it? I don't know. We were told to open them on our next visit and I definitely think I will be returning!

If you're looking for an afternoon tea treat with a difference I would definitely recommend The Charlie and The Chesterfield experience! The staff were lovely, the afternoon tea was amazing and they made everyone feel welcome no matter your age.
