Morning Skincare Routine

Me and skincare never really got along, for me growing up it I saw it more as something I have to do everyday rather than a routine so when it's come to picking products I never really knew what I was looking for.

Let's fast forward a few years, I'm still trying out different products but I'm I finally understand my routine so I thought I'd show you what I've being loving on my face for the past couple of months that seem to be making a big difference.

So let's start from the beginning and tell you my skin type - I have oily but dehydrated skin so I try to use serums and oils as much as I can as well as drinking a lot of water on a daily basis. The products I use don't change too much from day to night but I thought I'd kick off with my morning routine.

After trialling many a cleanser I've finally found one that works for me, Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel where do I start with this cleanser! I love it so much for morning and evening but I'm using a different cleanser in the evening which I'll talk about in my evening routine post. The Oskia is so gentle on the skin, it's non foaming so my skin isn't irritated in anyway. I apply it on my dry skin and massage it in for a couple of minutes. It leaves my complexion bright and radiant which is due to the pumpkin enzymes which melt away the dull skin cells, I add a little water to emulsify the product that wipe it off with a warm flannel. This is a very popular product in the blogging world and once you've tried it you can see why. It's so amazing I always need to have a back up bottle just in case.

My face freshly washed and cleansed, I've reintroduced toner back into my life - toner is one of those "do I really need it" products which vary in most routines. For me I felt like it was missing so I added the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic back in. It's just an extra step of moisture which I need and it smells really good too.

Serums play a big part in my routine, I can't go without it. I honestly think it's the main reason why my skin has done a complete 360 and is now plump and hydrated. I only started getting into serums properly last summer when I was on holiday in Aruba when I picked up the Dior Hydra Lift serum to test out. It made a huge difference. My skin is now hydrated and soft, my skin is nowhere near as oily as it used to be which tells me something is working. I recently finished the Dior and picked up the Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Intense to compare and so far so good. One of the main differences I've noticed so far is the smell, the Chanel is more fragrant than the Dior but I'm still testing it out. So watch this space.

Finding the perfect moisturiser? Is there such a thing? I feel like you could bounce around the difference brands and just come out with something meh. Personally I find moisturiser really difficult to put my finger on but I've found one that works for me at the moment so I'm gonna stick with it. Garnier Hydrating Day Cream is my current go to. It's a gel based moisturiser which I feel works better on my skin. I dab it on my face and massage it in and my skin is instantly moisturised plus it's easy on the purse strings too so won't break the bank.

I used to get really dry under eyes and thought about trying out an eye cream for a while but never got round to it. It wasn't until I was packed for my job and picking up some last minute bits I popped into Kiehls and came out with the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado  which has made such a difference. My under eyes are moisturised and plump, no more dry eyes for me.

Once a week, when I feel like my skin needs it, I will use a scrub to wake my skin up. The one I've been using lately is the Clarins Gentle Refiner it's nice and you can feel the beads which I like but I think I may continue my search for a good exfoliater when I've finished the sample.

So that's my morning routine, it's pretty simple and doesn't involve too many products. If you do know of a really good exfoliater, please let me know - it could become a new favourite. I'll be sharing my evening routine soon, so keep an eye out for that.
